Hope I

This is about a day in the life of a girl who has a passion for surfing, and we follow her through her day-to-day life in her small town.

The day begins with Hope getting up from bed and putting on some clothes to go surf. A few other people show up including some that she doesn’t know by name, but they all know the rules because they are the same people she always surfs with. They paddle out and start to catch waves. After a while one of the people invites Hope to join them, but she declines so she can surf her own waves. The others keep going without her but then she catches one of the best waves of the morning, which makes up for having to watch them have fun without her.

The story actually begins with Hope being born on a beach. She then has a flashback of her mother washing the sand off her and outlining the ocean in front of her. Her mother tells her to never forget where she comes from, and to always carry the ocean in her heart.

As a young girl, I remember when Hope came to me. I was with my sister on the beach and we were playing with the waves. As the waves came close to us, we would run and laugh in the water, until one wave came that was so big that it got us wet all over. We were running back to our parents, but they couldn't see us because they were too busy trying to enjoy their own time on the beach.

Hope was looking at us from afar.
